Smiling

November 10th, 2008

Thomas began smiling about two weeks ago and it seems he is getting the hang of it. There’s nothing like looking around and doing my thing and then looking down and seeing Thomas smiling at me. It makes me feel so awesome! Along with his grins he is trying to make noises. His favorite is “ahhh.” I can’t wait to hear more!

Our new house!

We are loving our new place! More pictures to come in the near future.

We moved and had our first Halloween with Thomas

November 9th, 2008

We were only in our new house for about a week before Halloween. We got Thomas all ready for the trick-or-treaters. We had a decent amount of them, much more than I expected. It was our first time having trick-or-treaters and it was fun seeing all the little ones dressed up. I gave them more than I gave the big kids that were dressed in regular street clothes. What is happening to kids these days? If you are that lazy, at least get a mask or something, sheesh.

Thomas had a good time seeing all the visitors and seeing his jack-o-lantern. We look forward to next year when I hope to carve some fantastic pumpkins for Mr. T.

Happy Halloween!

Mr. Squeaky

October 9th, 2008

Thomas had fun squeaking all night last night, or should I say all morning. I think it started around 2:30ish and continued until about 4:40ish. Not sure what was going on, but it looked like he was asleep. His eyes were closed but he was wiggling around and squeaking. Now daddy is tired and working at 50% today.

19 Days old!

October 6th, 2008

Thomas is doing great. He is eating well and being the cutest ever. We are getting pretty good sleep if you add it all up. We are learning to split up the times we get to sleep. For the most part, I get around four to five hours sleep thanks to Heather taking care of him around 3am or so.

I am so impressed with how strong he is. He is already lifting his head and moving it around. When I burp him in my lap he can already stand up in my lap. For such a little guy he has such great strength.

When I thought about being a dad in the past, I had my ideas about what it would be like and what I would expect. Honestly, I expected it to be horrible at first. I thought I was going to hate it. However, I have to say that after our being a dad for 19 days, I love it! Crying, dirty diapers, spit-up, urine all over me, it all pays off when I see his little face. It’s hard leaving for work in the morning and leaving my family behind. I can’t wait to get home in the afternoons to see him and I am sure Heather is glad to get some backup. I have to say though that she is wonderful! I have the best wife ever. I knew she was going to be a great mom.

Today makes a week!

September 24th, 2008

Thomas will be a week old today at 6pm. It’s so true how time flies. I am trying to enjoy every minute of him being little. I am sure it is true that I will blink my eyes and he will be eighteen and off to college. Since I am back at work and trying to bring home the bacon, I try to help out as much as possible when I get home (aka. change diapers).

I never knew how I would feel after having a baby. I have to say that it has been one of the most amazing events of my life. I find myself having a hard time focusing during certain moments just thinking about him and all the hard work I want to contribute to help him grow to be a fine young man. The other part of me is excited about doing things with him as he gets older. It’s going to be super fun taking him fishing, camping, biking, hiking and all the other fun outdoor menagerie.
